Description

Rice

Rice is defined as a cereal grain belonging to the grass family of ‘Poaceae’. Rice belongs to two species of Poaceae crop, namely, ‘Oryza Sativa’ and ‘Oryza Glaberrima’.

Traditionally, rice was cultivated by irrigating the field with adequate amounts of water after sowing the seedlings. In this manner, it reduces the growth of weeds but the process should be implemented very carefully, with proper servicing of the water damming and channeling.

The grain is of special importance for the population in Asia, parts of Latin America, the Caribbean and in Africa. As a result, it plays a pivotal role for the food security of over half the world population. It is also a central component of the culture of a number of communities.

Thai Jasmine White Rice, also called fragrant rice or “Hom Mali” rice, is recognized world wide as Thailand’s specialty. Thai Jasmine Rice belongs to the Indica (long-grain) category and could be divided into 3 main categories as A, B and C according to their quality; Prime Quality, Superb Quality and Premium Quality.
